The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP), launched in 2004 in North America. This was Sony's first handheld gaming console, offering console-quality gaming on the go. Featuring a sleek design, a large widescreen display, and a UMD (Universal Media Disc) drive, the PSP supported a diverse library of games, including God of War: Chains of Olympus, Monster Hunter Freedom, and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. It also functioned as a multimedia device, allowing users to play music, watch movies, and browse the web. The PSP saw multiple revisions, including the PSP-2000, PSP-3000, and PSP Go, each improving portability and performance. The PSP Go does not take UMD discs! The series paved the way for Sony’s next handheld, the PlayStation Vita.
